EXPRESSIVE ARTS FACULTY: ART, PHOTOGRAPHY & TEXTILES

RATIONALE FOR THE ABOVE SUBJECTS

Years 7 and 8 provide students with basic sketchbook skills which will prepare them for GCSE. These echo the Assessment Objectives for OCR, with a similar process of research and analysis, media experimentation, idea development and production of an outcome. There is emphasis on independence and imagination in terms of outcomes

Year 9 is a skills building year to strengthen skills to a high level in preparation for the GCSE. It also promotes a level of independence, working to a given theme

 Years 10-11 promote full independence in terms of media, artist choice and ideas; guided by the teacher to meet all AOs

 Years 12-13 promotes a move towards further use of imagination, freedom and independence, understanding the thought process and preparation for University Art & Design based courses
