Chislehurst School for Girls

SUMMER Term 2016

These final few weeks of term have been extremely busy for our Sixth Formers. On Friday 8th July we welcomed our Japanese visitors to the school and took part in many different activities with them.  This was a very popular event as our Sixth Formers enjoyed meeting and spending time with the students from Momoyama School. As usual email addresses were exchanged and friendships forged.
We also took part in the new Year 7 Induction morning. This is always an exciting time for our new students joining us in September and our Sixth Formers spent the morning with them; giving them tours of the school and joining them in their induction lessons.

Sixth Form Prom
This year our Prom was held at ‘The Tudor Barn’ in Eltham, an evening of dancing and celebrations and a chance to say farewell to our Year 13's.

We shall also be running an enrolment session on Friday 26th August from 9am to 1pm. This will take place in S2 in the Sixth Form Centre.

Brighton Trip
On Friday 1st July we all took our annual trip to Brighton. Unfortunately this year the sun did not shine but that did not deter our new Sixth Formers and our current Year 12 from enjoying the delights of Brighton, whether it be the rides on Brighton pier or sale shopping in ‘The Lanes’, a good time was had by all.
The sun actually shone for our final celebration day with our Year 13's. The Sixth Form Centre underwent a transformation as bunting was hung and balloons and celebrations banners festooned the walls. As usual the Sixth Form team also underwent a transformation with the theme this year being ‘Punk Rock’. With the burgers cooking and food at the ready our Year 13's arrived looking fabulous and ready to celebrate their time with us. We all took a trip down memory lane with a collection of photographs and then enjoyed watching the students perform in their very own music video!
Enhancement Days – Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th July
During our final week of term we shall be taking part in two Enhancement Days. Our first day is dedicated to UCAS applications and researching the variety of courses on offer. Advice will be given on how to a write personal statement and complete the UCAS application form. Our second day is ‘Sixth Form Sports’, and we shall be running different sporting activities for the younger years; rounders, bench ball and Zumba!
New members of the Sixth Form Team
We are delighted to announce two new members of our team; Miss Davis will be our new Deputy Year Coordinator and Mrs Nelson has been appointed as our Extended Learning Coordinator.
Farewell to Mrs Jones
Mrs Jones has been with the school for sixteen years and has taken the decision to retire this year. Many of you will have been taught by Mrs Jones whether it be Business Studies or the Extended Project.  Mrs Jones has been an integral part of our sixth form; as the Director of  Post 16 Transition she has overseen all the UCAS applications as well as giving career advice and organising careers interviews.
It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have worked alongside Mrs Jones and the Sixth Form Team wish her a wonderful retirement.
So another busy and exciting academic year is nearly over. Our Sixth Formers have all worked really hard this year and we know they will be rewarded with excellent results. So all that remains is for us to wish you all a very relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you in September.
