The Governors' Policy is to give the Headmistress and Staff as much freedom of action as professionals require, to carry out the aims of the school efficiently and in the best interests of the students, within the context of local and national requirements.

Mrs J Larkin

Mrs Janice Larkin (Chair):  5th December 2015 - 4th December 2019

I have been involved in education, in different ways, for more than 20 years.  I worked for the University of Greenwich initially in the School of Education and then in Widening Participation.  As a parent I first became a Governor at my daughter’s primary school in 1993 and then continued at Beaverwood, now Chislehurst School for Girls, when my daughter moved there in 1999.  As my daughter was statemented for dyslexia from the age of 7, I have a particular interest in Special Education Needs.  I have a degree from the Open University and Postgraduate Certificate in Safeguarding and am now Chair of Governors and have Chaired and sat on various committees within the School, including the Personnel and Curriculum Committees. Given my particular interests I have always been very impressed with the care, compassion and dedication with which the School manages those students who experience difficulties because of their individual needs and circumstances.

Outside of education I have been involved in Girl Guiding in Sidcup for many years, working with all the age groups and I was, until recently, District Commissioner for Sidcup West.  I also helped to set up and run a Theatre Company which works with ex-offenders, alcoholics and those with mental health issues.

Staff Governors:

Mrs K J Raven, Headmistress

I have been the Head of Chislehurst School for Girls since January 1992 and a Governor for all of that period. In this capacity, I am the ‘Chief Executive’ and the leading professional advisor to the Governing Body. I value most highly the support and challenge provided by our excellent Governors. Together, we ensure that we deliver the very best for the young people in our care.

I am an Appointed Governor and sit on the Finance & Premises Committee, as well as the Personnel Committee. In my professional life, I am a Management Consultant at Deloitte, working primarily within the Public Sector. Outside of work, I am a keen runner and have completed three marathons, with plans for more on the horizon.

Mr H Patel

Mr Hamesh Patel: 11th July 2013 -10th July 2017

I became a Governor in 2013 and I am Chair of the Finance Committee. I also sit on the Finance and Premises Committee. After studying for a law degree at university, I trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Since then I have worked in various finance roles in commercial property companies. I live in Chislehurst and grew up in the local area.

Mr J Mehta

Mr Jatin Mehta (Vice Chair): 25th March 2014 -24th March 2018

I am Governor on the Finance and Finance and Premises Committees, and was also recently appointed as Vice-Chair.  I am a Qualified Management Accountant and am employed by one of the Big 4 in the Professional Services and Consulting industry, and work alongside organisations across most industries.
I have lived in various parts of the UK and have also previously been on a long-term secondment in South-East Asia.  I have settled in Chislehurst/Bromley over the last 10 years with my family, and our two young children are currently at Primary School in the area.  I am keen on DIY and am also learning more gardening in my spare time.

Mrs P Jennings

Mrs Pamela Jennings:  3rd December 2014 - 2nd December 2018

I spent the last twenty years of my career in teaching at Chislehurst School for Girls prior to my retirement in 2010.  During this time, which was  both enjoyable and very rewarding, I was appointed as Staff Governor. On retirement I took on the role of Link Governor and was then elected as  Chair of Governors in July 2014.  Now as an appointed Governor I liaise closely with Mrs Raven on school matters and am a member of several  committees including Curriculum, Finance, Finance & Premises, Personnel and Visits & Journeys. I regularly visit the school both formerly and informally, giving me the opportunity to meet both students and parents alike.  I particularly enjoy attending the excellent school productions in which students enthusiastically participate. I raised three sons and now support them in raising my four grandchildren when the need arises. In my free time I visit family and friends around the country and take the opportunity to travel abroad out of term- time.

Co-opted Governors

Mr J Wafer

Mr John Wafer 5th December 2015 - 4th December 2019

Clerk to the Governors:

Mrs Suzanne Guy

Mrs Suzanne Guy: 1st June 2015 -

I began clerking for Chislehurst School for Girls in June 2015 and have experience of clerking for a few other schools, as well as experience in various secretarial and administrative roles, in schools and elsewhere.  Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being involved with the music at my local church, and speaking French when I have the opportunity.

Parent Governors:

Mrs. S Orchard

Mrs Sheryl Orchard  1st September 2016 - 31st August 2020

I was elected as a Parent Governor in Autumn 2016. I am a mother of two girls, the eldest of which is currently in Year 9 at Chislehurst School for Girls and the youngest is still at primary school. I currently work alongside my husband, running our Gas Safe Installation/Plumbing business, but, prior to having our two daughters, I worked for a well-known large fashion retailer. There I acquired over 15 years’ retail management experience. I managed and developed a successful brand production team. I was responsible for the production/buying of all Internal Marketing requirements and managed a budget of £13 million; from taking and deciphering briefs, through to purchasing, production, logistics, store evaluation and store customer care for over 2,500 retail outlets in multiple brands/sides/partners and countries. I have also worked in numerous part-time roles whilst my daughters were very young, i.e. using my transferable skills working within the Fashion Retail Recruitment sector as a Researcher/Head-hunter for high-end brands. Plus I’ve also worked for a local Estate Agent as a Negotiator. We are a very keen swimming family and if I’m not taking my two daughters training and attending various Galas, you will find me volunteering at our local swimming club. I think it’s really important that whatever your child is into, whatever level of ability your child has, we as parents support them as much as possible. That’s why I am putting my voice and experience to use to assist the school, and in doing so helping all of our daughters.
